Review of the BZF64 Coffee Grinder from BPlus

Discover my experience with the BPlus BZF64 coffee grinder, a tool designed for professional baristas that I was lucky enough to win in a contest. In this article, I present its unique features and elegant design, while incorporating a video demonstrating its performance. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore this high-end grinder that combines technical innovation and refined aesthetics.

A few months ago, I participated in a contest organized by BPlus, a company I’ve already featured in several articles. The objective of the contest: create a short video of their Apollo coffee grinder and publish it on YouTube.

The most liked video determined the winner. Lucky me, I won first prize: a $300 voucher from BPlus.

Since I live in Europe, the director offered me an almost new electric coffee grinder, used only at the World of Coffee in Milan: the BZF64, a model normally sold for much more.

The BZF64 is a coffee grinder designed for coffee professionals.
Its main characteristics:

  • 64mm titanium flat burr
  • Weight: 12.5 kg
  • Available in 110v or 220v
  • Dimensions: L26 × W16 × H54cm
  • 1kg hopper, replaceable with a vacuum single-dose system
  • Complete and intuitive digital menu

My model combines chrome and textured white. Even though I didn’t choose the colors (since the grinder had been used at the Milan show), I find this finish very elegant. The slightly damask white brings a unique touch, and the chrome is of beautiful quality.

The grind adjustment is performed using:

  • a locking button,
  • a large graduated dial.

This system ensures that the adjustment remains stable over time.

The grinder comes with:

  • a 1kg thick plastic container, sturdy and magnetized (integrated safety: without proper positioning, the grinder won’t start);
  • a rubber vacuum system, which allows air injection and recovery of all the ground coffee.

A video demonstrates the effectiveness of this system and the low coffee retention.

The BZF64 screen is comprehensive and intuitive. It allows you to monitor numerous parameters.

Here is the function of the different buttons:

  • A: Sum button, resets the global counter (H, I, J).
  • B: single cup mode selection.
  • C: manual mode activation. Start/stop by pressing the portafilter on the dedicated button. Time is displayed in G.
  • D: ON/OFF button.
  • E: resets the motor hours counter (O).
  • F: double cup mode selection.
  • G: timer for single cup / double cup or stopwatch in manual mode.
  • H: single cup cycle counter.
  • I: double cup cycle counter.
  • J: total sum of cycles (H + I).
  • K: room ambient temperature.
  • L: coffee humidity.
  • M: manual mode indicator (flashes when active).
  • N: ground coffee temperature.
  • O: total number of motor operating hours.

To adjust the single cup mode timer:

  1. Hold button B for a few seconds.
  2. Adjust with B (decrease) or F (increase).
  3. Confirm with C.

The adjustable portafilter holder is well designed. It fits 57/58 mm filters without a funnel, and also works with 51 mm La Pavoni type filters.

Compared to the Eureka Mignon, the BZF64 is significantly quieter: deeper sound, less intrusive, you can continue talking during grinding.

The retention is minimal. Tests with and without vacuum system confirm very good accuracy.

The timer is also very consistent, with only 0.2 g variation across multiple measurements.

Strengths
  • fast, precise, quiet;
  • very low retention;
  • perfect for both professional and demanding home use.
Weaknesses
  • no main power switch (solution: socket with switch);
  • no notch to make it easier to grip the vacuum reservoir cap.

It’s a reliable, aesthetic and high-performance product that I highly recommend.

Currently, it’s priced at $650 instead of $850 on the manufacturer’s website. From Europe, add shipping and taxes: expect around €800 to €850 delivered.
