Coffee recipe: crinkles will accompany your coffee

Discover crinkles, delicious chocolate cakes with a soft texture inside and a crackled crust on the outside.
Ideal to accompany a coffee, these little treats appeared in the 1950s in Minnesota.
Their preparation is simple and quick, making them a perfect option to add a gourmet touch to your breaks.

Looking for cake recipes to accompany my coffee, I discovered crinkles: small chocolate cakes crackled on top, covered with powdered sugar and soft inside despite their small size.

The origins of this recipe date back to the mid-20th century, in the home of Helen Fredell in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

The preparation is quick, but you need to plan for 2 hours in the refrigerator for the dough to harden and be easier to work with.

  • 200 g of chocolate
  • 50 g of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 80 g of brown sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 190 g of flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler.
  2. Beat the eggs and sugar together, then add the melted chocolate and butter.
  3. Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 2 hours, so it hardens and allows you to form nice balls.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  6. Form walnut-sized balls and roll them entirely in the powdered sugar.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes at 180°C.
  8. Allow to cool before tasting.

Enjoy your crinkles with a good coffee ☕!
